One Child + One Tree
“Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree.”

= A Sustainable Future for All
Help us to combat deforestation:
The ’2.2 Billion: Power of One Child + One Tree” campaign is organized by ECI in cooperation with Power of One School founding partners: Planet2025 Network and Greener Ethiopia. Programme partners include UNEP, the Solar Electric Light Fund (SELF), Global Challenge Award and others. The campaign intends to co-create a more prosperous and secure future driven by today’s children, by…
- planting 2.2 billion trees (one tree for each of Mother Earth’s 2.2 billion people under the age of 18)
- helping to offset net deforestation of 14 billion trees equivalent of 20–25% of global CO2 emissions (in Phase II which seeks to plant 7 trees per child)
- increasing access to safe water, clean energy, healthy food
- limit global warming to 2.2 degrees
Power-of-One Schools Mission Statement:
Power of One School kits seek to engage and empower children and young people around the world to co-create a prosperous future one community at a time. We develop and micro-finance age-appropriate, interdisciplinary school kits which set up nurseries and plant trees, while improving access to participatory learning tools, healthy environments, electricity, the Internet, water, sanitation, and jobs. We believe this is a smart way to convert CO2 into things people and our planet really need.
