The Power of One Child + One Tree= A Sustainable Future for All

ECI Campaigns/Take Action > THE POWER OF ONE CHILD + ONE TREE= A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE FOR ALL

“Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree” – Martin Luther King Jr.

Power of One Tree + One Child, our signature tree planting campaign, intends to co-create a more prosperous and secure future driven by today’s children by:

    • Planting 2.2 billion trees (one tree for each of 2.2 billion people under the age of 18)
    • Helping offset net deforestation of 14 billion trees, equivalent of 20–25% of global CO2 emissions
  • Providing life-skills based environmental education through the development of participatory tools and individualized learning modules that highlight the interdependent relationships of the natural environment and human use and consumption.

Our successes to date:

Brazil: planting starts in 2012!
Cameroon:
Ghana: 120 trees planted by three schools
Nepal: 1,100 trees have been planted by 1,000 children and community members from 3 schools
Nigeria: 50 trees have been planted by one school in the Ilupeju-Ibafo community
Togo: 3,807 trees planted by 20 school children, 40 community members and 2 teachers

Our founding partners include Planet2025 Network and Greener Ethiopia and programme partners include UNEP, HACEY, and Global Challenge Award, ECI Nepal, Ghana, Brazil and Power of One Child Global Network
